The Nursery is ideally situated in a pleasant country setting, but is within easy access of all local communities and major towns. Approached from a private road and set in its own grounds, Foxley boasts ample outside learning opportunities, together with on-site forest school learning.
Foxley was founded in 1939 by Miss Gwen Marnham in the Chapel House, Shurlock Row. After the War, the school moved to Foxley Grove Farm and became known as Foxley P.N. E. U. School. It continued to flourish and when in 1954 Miss Marnham married, Miss Flora Allerton became Headmistress. The school moved to its present site in Manor Drive, Shurlock Row and was run by Miss Allerton and her staff until her retirement in 1979. Following her retirement Miss Mary Fallon took over, during which time the school became a nursery. The old pre-war premises were demolished in 1990 and replaced by the present purpose built building. In 2002 Miss Fallon retired and the nursery once again changed hands, to the present owners Mr & Mrs Trayling.
The current owners are actively involved in the day to day running of the nursery school and have over 30 years of childcare experience. Together with their team of Early Years practitioners, their aim is to provide a rich and stimulating educational environment in which your child will feel confident to play, learn and grow. Through a balanced programme of activities, appropriate to age and developmental stage, we provide for all aspects of the Foundation Stage, as set out within the framework and guidelines laid down by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority.
